i miss california – i haven’t been there since early december. fortunately, just as i was thinking about heading back, i was invited to attend the web 2.0 expo in san francisco march 31- april 3 (with my camera!). for those of you who aren’t familiar with the event, the web 2.0 expo is a semi-annual conference and expo targeting all those involved with the development of the next generation web: designers, developers, entrepreneurs, marketers, business strategists, and venture capitalists from around the globe. some of the most innovative and successful industry people and companies attend web 2.0 expo. it’s a great event and a good time. for east coasters there’s a fall event in nyc as well.
and this just in…

and one more thing that might be of interest…
along with a government 2.0 track, there’s a very cool event called the sunlight hackathon produced by sunlight labs (the development arm of the sunlight foundation, which “uses the power of the internet to shine a light on the interplay of money, lobbying, influence and government in washington”). basically, you can vote on what interests you most from their list of projects and then attendees joining in the hackathon help build the app. if i could code, i’d do it. learn more about it on jen pahlka’s blog: announcing the sunlight hackathon at web 2.0 expo.
if you’re interested in going to the expo, you can use this discount code to get 30% any registration package: websf09trt4 – sign up here: online registration. i also get an extra ticket to give away so reach out to me on twitter @noreaster if you’re interested.
