cherry blossoms in DC by Jen Consalvo

dc’s spring transformation

last sunday was supposed to be thunderstorms and crappy weather. in a sneak attack, the sun came out and the cherry blossoms did that magical thing they do each year. it’s hard to describe what it’s like to walk ‘neath an ethereal ceiling of pink-tinged white blooms – and when the the wind starts wisping the blooms through the air – it’s just beautiful. as i was working on some of these images, the soundtrack for lost in translation came on and it really fit that delicate yet powerful and other-worldly quality i was trying to represent. hope you like.

  1. These are just gorgeous Jen. We didn’t make it to the basin this year but have been many times before and it’s always amazing (even with the crowds). You’ve really captured the beauty.

Thank you for posting! I was fortunate to be in DC earlier this week and we made a trip to the tidal basin just before sunset on Tuesday. Beautiful!

Nice shots JC! Could definitely see a series of these made for wall art. Especially #2.
