a few weeks ago i got a sneak peek of the new h street country club that will open later this spring. in what’s known as the atlas district, the new bar & restaurant sits next door to the old atlas theater and a few doors down from the well known granville moore’s. the restaurant will feature latin cuisine designed by dc chef and restauranteur ann cashion. but the food is only one reason to go. billiards, darts and 9-holes of minigolf, two bars – not to mention the whimsical art that fills every corner of the two level venue – are certain to attract people of all ages and keep them coming back to the fun-for-all “country club”. putting balls through the washington monument, past a towering godzilla, brilliant cherry blossoms or next to the painted “wave of rats” is sure to be a hit.
owners and operators blair zervos and ricardo vergara (also co-owners of the red and the black, a popular bar on h street) are making sure the business has a strong social media presence as well. visit the website to join their facebook fanpage, get on their mailing list or follow them on twitter so you can see photos and videos of their progress, and get updates about their opening. check out some of the artsy details below, all hand-crafted by the talented local artist lee wheeler – see more photos here. congrats to everyone involved (so proud of you guys!!!) – lots of long, hard work getting there but what a great addition to washington dc.
